BU Blanks Millersville in Field Hockey

MILLERSVILLE --Maggey Bloskey (Danville/Danville) scored two goals and had one assist to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 5-0 win over Millersville on Tuesday afternoon.

The Huskies jumped out in front 1-0 when Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) scored on a Bloskey assist 15 minutes into the game. Bloomsburg added to its lead when Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntingdon Valley/Lower Moreland) scored her 25th goal of the season to make it a 2-0 game with 11 minutes left in the opening period. Bloskey scored five minutes later to give the Huskies a 3-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, Bloskey scored her second goal five minutes into the period with Brieann Wolfe (Perkasie/Pennridge) wrapping up the day with a goal at the 56:33 mark.

Bloomsburg's defense, led in part by Whitney Miller (Lancaster/Penn Manor) and Kelsy Kress (Littlestown/Littlestown), held Millersville without a shot on goal in the game.

The five goals scored by the Huskies give them 117 for the year, 15 shy of their Division II record 132 goals scored a year ago.

Bloomsburg is now 15-1, 7-0 in the PSAC East, and will host Kutztown on Saturday at noon.
